I believe the agency will pay for it. I just thought it was strange that the Doctor never knew it exsisted. Thanks for the advice I will have to look into the ins. if the dept wont pay for it. I also carry a card with me in case of emergency that lists all of the "other" diseases to check for if I'm unable to speak.

OOOoooh, I had read about doing that and had forgotten I wanted to make up one for myself-so glad you reminded me! Especially since many zoonoses have symptoms very similar to more mainstream illnesses and therefore may be misdiagnosed because of the relative rarity of some of the animal-related ones...rabies is often diagnoses ONLY after every other possibility has been eliminated, and I would guess if the Wisconsin Protocol might be the thing that saves you the sooner it is started the better!

Thanks! And I hope I am not being rude to ask, but what diseases do you have listed on yours?

If ACOs are interested in a card like that, there's a version of this kind of thing posted here to use:

http://www.acofunstop.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2862

(If you can't get there, it'll be because you don't have ACO access yet; talk to Mark or Alison!)

I have that card too... the "Zoonosis" card.... basically anything that you may have come in contact with or been exposed to.. VERY good to have. Also, it may be time to check into that Dr's credentials... LOL

I think you have to be a little off to do this job without Rabies protection. Got mine 12 years ago and haven't had to get a booster yet. You never know when an exposure will be on your plate.

Just wanted to say that I really like your association's webpage. It's A LOT nicer than ours, www.floridaanimalcontrol.org.

Thanks Mz,

The really funny thing is that when I am at work our website is blocked by the filter system so I can only go on it at home.
