You have an excellent question I really do not know who would enforce it afterward. I did notice that Texas and Arizona had some "interesting" laws on there books also.

I smell a "my state is stupider than yours is contest, and I thought the chakras in a good position for the alignment of California as the Most Stupid State in the Union. So I looked it all up (dumblaws.com). God forbid I should post all of them, but here's the most important tips:

CALIFORNIA ACO-NEED-TO-KNOWS

Work Environment (all from state code)

Sunshine is legally guaranteed to the masses (if it's cloudy out, I guess you call Arnie and demand a refund).

No vehicle without a driver may go faster than 60 miles per hour (so stay in the truck when you zoom off).

Women may not drive in a house coat (so that lets THAT out for uniform).

Exotic Pets

You canít annoy a lizard in a city park (Fresno).

Peacocks have right of way, including when crossing driveways (Arcadia).

If you want to keep the rhinoceros that followed you home, you have to get a $100 license first (Norco).

Donít walk a camel down Palm Canyon Dr. between 4 and 6 PM (Palm Springs).

And donít walk an elephant down Market Street unless itís on a leash (San Francisco).

Dogs

Dogs can't mate publicly within 1,500 feet of a tavern, school, or place of worship (state law).

You canít bring your dog to school (Cathedral City) or onto an elevator (Glendale).

ďNo dog shall be in a public place without its master on a leashĒ (verbatim from Belvedere's city code, and if you knew Belvedere, youíd know how funny that is).

Livestock/Farming

Donít herd more than 2,000 sheep down Hollywood Blvd. at any one time (Hollywood).

You canít wear cowboy boots unless you own at least two cows (Blythe).

Donít own a green or smelly animal hide (Chico).

Wildlife Protection (Obviously, a Biggie in California)

Donít let your dog chase squirrels in the summer (Los Angeles).

Shooting jackrabbits from the back of a streetcar is right out (San Diego).

No molesting the butterflies (Pacific Grove).

You canít carry a fish into a bar (Portola).

Donít hunt moths under a street light (Los Angeles).

Donít lick toads (Los Angeles).

Ducks have right-of-way on Rancho California Street (Temecula).

You can't shoot at any kind of game from a moving vehicle (misdemeanor), unless the target is a whale (felony).

Officer Demeanor

It's illegal to cry on the witness stand. (Los Angeles)

Off Hours

If you classify as an ďugly person,Ē you must not walk down any street in San Francisco.

If you're a guy with a moustache, kissing women is off-limits in Eureka.

and last, but not least ...

Sex in a public hot tub is forbidden (state code). (Sex in a hot tub is illegal in California? Who wrote this law?)

Default Arizonas stupid laws

OK here I go. Hey AZ ACO's help me out.

Any misdemeanor committed while wearing a red mask is considered a felony.

There is a possible 25 years in prison for cutting down a cactus.

Donkeys cannot sleep in bathtubs.

A class 2 misdemeanor occurs if one places a mark upon a flag which is "likely to provoke physical retaliation"

When being attacked by a criminal or burglar, you may only protect yourself with the same weapon that the other person possesses.

It is unlawful to refuse a person a glass of water.

You may not have more than two dildos in a house.(Glendale)

Cars may not be driven in reverse.(Glendale)

Cards may not be played in the street with a Native American.(Globe)

If you bother the cottontails or bullfrogs, you will be fined. (Hayden)

No more than six girls may live in any house. (Repealed) (Maricopa County)

It is illegal to smoke cigarettes within 15 feet of a public place unless you have a Class 12 liqueur license. (Mesa)

A decree declares that anyone caught stealing soap must wash himself with
it until it is all used up.(Mohave County)

An ordinance prohibits the wearing of suspenders. (Nogales)

No one is permitted to ride their horse up the stairs of the county court house.(Prescott)

One must be 18 years old to buy spray paint.(Tempe)

It is illegal for men and women over the age of 18 to have less than one missing tooth visible when smiling.(Tombstone)

Women may not wear pants.( Tucson)

Hunting camels is prohibited.

It is illegal to manufacture imitation cocaine.

Looks like Cali has beat us so far. Damn, all this time I never knew all that fake cocaine I was making was illegal..

Cheers, Scooterchic

Does that mean regular cocaine is ok then?

Here is one I havenít figured out yet. This is in the recently passed state restraint law.
Sec.A821.077. UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT OF DOG. (a) An owner may not leave a dog outside and unattended by use of a restraint that unreasonably limits the dogís movement:
(1)between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Very few ACOs work after 5 or 6, and virtually none after 10, so who is supposed to enforce this law? If it were 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. I could see it as a heat stroke preventative, but 10 p.m. Ė 6 a.m. is the coolest part of the day.

The only conceivable use I can see is to give PD probable cause to ID a suspect.

We have a full night shift that I suppose would enforce this one, but I would also suppose that someone would have to report it first...

I wish my neighbors would take their dogs in at night. Little ankle biters bark incessantly. We sleep with a loud fan running.

I think Dallas runs 24/7, and I believe Plano runs evenings, but not all night. Barking may be the reasoning behind the law, at least it sort of makes sense. Of course, the law only says it canít be chained, it never says that the dog has to be brought in.

So, lessee. "Eeek! A burglar!! Wait right there, show me what weapons you have. Okay, I've got one of those. Oh, wait, no I don't. Here, put your gun down, and we'll use knives. I have two, I'll lend you one. It's on now, baby!" ???

I just love this one. I hope it says that they have to do it naked in a galvanized washtub in the middle of the town square, too, without benefit of hot water. Darn those soap-stealing scum!!
