Default Oh, I think I get it now ...

So if I had $10,000 in the account the city would minus $10,000 from the city's AC budget.
I think, what they mean is, you don't have a separate budget account for AC, it's all out of the General Fund. Meaning, grant funds awarded would need to be awarded to the CITY, no guarantee it would end up being allotted (by your city council or whoever decides budget) to AC. It's all "one big pot" of money. If that's the case, I think the only choices would be to join with the city grant person and go for bigger all-around grants if they're getting ANY grant funding now, or to go the private route that Mark described (Friends of ...).

Everyone here knows about Community Development Block Grants, right? CDBG is the acronym. A portion of CDBG funds is specifically reserved for use for public safety. http://www.okcommerce.gov/index.php?...269&Itemid=344
Oklahoma Department of Commerce - Communities - Grants & Funding - CDBG Funding
has information on Oklahoma's CDBG programs.

City agencies should definitely make a case for getting a slice of these funds! Especially for equipment and capital expenses like buildings, CDBG should be helping with those costs, so that grants funds of other kinds can go toward program costs.

Okay, sorry, I'm knee deep in a grant proposal now, myself. I get sorta carried away.

wish AP would be a little more realistic in their protrayals of shelters. They aren't all the big well funded places people see on there. Having a hospital clinic & umpteen vets on staff is something most will never see. Going out & picking up peoples pets just because they no longer want to be responsible for them is BS IMO. I wish they would ride with some of the small poorly funded ACO's & see what life is really like. How about showing euthanasia, thats pretty real. Or the gas chambers. Let the world see what THEY have caused the dreaded "dog ketcher" to haver to do.
I agree BUT if we did force people to look at the mess theyv'e made they would still refuse to accept personal responsibility for it. They would focus on the moment we euthanized an animal and see nothing else but the dog killers they accuse of us being, pushing us back into the dreaded dog catcher cave.

Small minds can't see the big picture no matter how big the screen is!
