You ARE a nice guy. Thanks for the moral support. When I mentioned these ideas to my co-workers here, they all looked at me like I was completely off my rocker.

Sorry guys and gals, I just want to find out what kind of training these people have had. The vet here is close but sometimes we have to wait for the vet on late night call outs and if we could help that would be great. If anyone knows some info contact at MOORESHELTER@HOTMAIL.COM

EVERYONE that has posted before me is right. I saw the same thing on AP and I wish i could afford just one of their old trucks. Animal Cops, Hero's, ect. has done a great job getting some of what we do out there in the public eye and helping erase some of the old stereo typing of what animal control was. On the other hand the show also states after each commercial that they are privetly funded agencys that rely on YOUR or PUBLIC donations (so don't forget to give).
We all have great ideas on what would work for our trucks, in our areas. Not to add any more work for Mark, but do you think you can have a forum for the MacGuyver's and the Edisons to help get some of their ideas made. I have plans to convert Rodeo's and Xterra's into ACO trucks. (they work good in my area) If I could get Chip Fuse out here to overhaul my truck I would be a very happy dog catcher. wouldn't we all. If anyone reads this and knows where Bill Gates lives, let him know we need his money.

Around here, we should be called "deerslayers."

(Since I've had about three dogs to catch in four years, and I've euthanized about 160 deer ... )

I guess by definition then I'd be a "Woodchuck/ Raccoon Wrangler"
Although for a while I was known by my co-workers as Dr. Death.

you go, with your wild raccoon wrassling self ... And I feel for you ... I got the "Queen of Death" title for 2005 (twice as many wildlife euths as anyone else) -- I think because I do more tracking. "Mercy hunter," would that be better? Ambivalent emotions ... proud of my tracking abilities, and my euth skills, but watching things die gets old ...

Hey did any notice.......did we kinda leave the topic a few posts back?!? Sorry GIA. Most of the training that I've done has been on the job. There are a few courses for animal first aid, but they are rare in this area. I was a vet tech for a few months and that did give me a good idea for dealing with trauma. The Vet is 15 mins away which helps. Creativity and networking with the local rescues, vets, and shelters could help find someone willing to train you in what you might need to know.
and I'm still waiting for Chip Fuse to call me. I will have the most pimped out truck on the east coast someday
