So what about 'em? This thread is dedicated to spelling errors of a truly magnificent kind -- those that add to the mystique of the breeds they pretend to represent. My favorite:

"chewowah" (chihuahua) -- as in, "chew, ow, ah!" ... seems appropriate for the rascally little land piranhas that they are.

Please, I know they're out there ... add more!

I can't say it is a spelling error but I was asked to do an area check for..... you ready.. an "Alaskain shepherd". Still looking for that breed in my dog book. Also I did a will show for a dog with the description of a "small yellow fluffy thingy". I thought my dispatch was going to pee herself. We have been keeping a book in dispatch of the call centers calls they send us. Love it. Keeps us sane. Oh yeah I was looking for a "Keyshound" not a keeshond.

Cheers, scooterchic

I used to have one of those. Everytime I put the keys down my damn hound would run away with them. LOL

I'm a fan of the Chipper Key (Shipperke). We actually have a few around here. One, in particular, is very good at showing me and his disgruntled owner just where the hole in the fence is this time...

I thought everybody knew about the famous ****zu (Shih-tzu) that has been sprayed, or is it neutered for a male?

I always enjoy learning we have another 'Karen Terrier' in town, especially the 'pure bread' ones...

Yup, there's another good thread right there ...

sprayed?
splayed?
tutored?
noodled?

And here's another one ... the history of dog breed names. Like (of course we have to start with the oldest breeds, ahem), "chow chow" comes from the part of the ship that the more fragile chinese goods were shipped in, coming back west to Europe. Everything auctioned off in port -- porcelain, food, dogs -- was called "chow chow". Or (my favorite historical one), "Rottweiler," a Roman import into Germany, named for the town with the rot teil (red tile) roofs preferred by the legionnaires. Or ... "Schipperke," a dog bred to chase rats on canal boats, meaning "Little Skipper" in Flemish. I could go on and on ... (hmmm. I really could, actually, being essentially jobless ...). But enough about me. Neeeeexxxt!!!

Oh yea, and the breed named after that one Devo song..you know, "Whip It"?

I've come across a few 'boarder collies' and 'healers' as well.
