Default Hello from Idaho

Hi! I was introduced to this forum at the National Animal Control Assoc. training I went to earlier this month. I am an ACO for the City of Nampa, Idaho Police Dept and am very excited that there is such a great resource like this for Animal Control/Humane Officers available.

I am actually in the process of trying to start up a statewide Animal Control Officer's association since there is none for Idaho at present. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, they would be most appreciated.

Thanks and I look forward to learning and sharing with the rest of you!

Cheers,
MEL

Hi Mel,

I'm a veterinarian from NJ who is also an ACO/ACI. We have a State ACO association. We have a website. Look for us under New Jersey Certified Animal Control Officers Association. Our current president is retiring but Lisa Perry (the North Regional Director) is running for president. Any of the Board members may be able to help you with copies of bylaws, etc. It might be a way of getting your organization started.

Thanks! I shall most certainly look up that info. Currently I am working on trying to find out where and how many ACOs are in Idaho. Whew, no easy task, haha.

Welcome! I am in La Grande, to your west, and have been in the ACO field 23 years. Check out the Oregon Animal Control Council website for some ideas on what to do with a State Organization. http://oacc.net/ And, if you are ever this way, call the Sheriff's Office and we can have coffee!

Default welcome:)

Welcome to the forums this is a great resource for ACO's. As to starting an Animal Control Assoc. for Idaho there is already one. Code Enforcement Professionals of Idaho (CEPI) do a google search they have a web site.
If you want specific people to speak to concerning training opportunities etc. PM me and i will get you names and emails. again welcome
