GTO, you sure do have a few animals with pointy bits on them, you can have them!

Breal76, you will have a ball! Do you know where you're going yet? Yes, there are often places where there are feral animal problems - roos quite often in farming areas, as the conditions that are good for cropping are also good for roos. And rabbits. Central Australia does have a significant feral camel problem - there was quite a lot of controversy about the culling program that occurred maybe 6 months ago because of the "cruelty" aspect - as in they were killed and their carcasses left to rot. Ummmm...it's in the middle of the desert miles from ANYWHERE, and it was more cruel to let them live as there was no food or water for them due to their sheer numbers.
Yes it was the Feral camels I read about. I thought that was the strangest thing I ever heard at the time. lol..I read that they were getting into peoples houses because of lack of food and water. I know I wouldn't want to wake up to something like that!

I do have a general idea of what I want to see when I go. Darwin I do believe is on my list (I have a list somewhere). I will start in Syndey and make my way south then west. I really want to see Perth and think I can catch a plane from Adelaide to Perth. Then back track to Adelaide and make my way up North. Really want to see Ayers Rock. After that go to Darwin and then off to Cairns then head back down south to Sydney from there. I have no idea if I will be able to see all I want to see in five weeks but I will give it my best shot. That's all I can do.

That's not a bad plan, you won't be disappointed, wherever you go!

A feral camel. Must be interesting. I have had occasion to chase longhorn cattle and horses, but a camel is one tall sun of a gun.

I'm not certain of numbers, but I think there are 100s of 1000s of camels in central Australia. They are a very good meat to eat, but the demand is not there. They need to be culled, its a simple as that.

Hmmmm? Camel on the Barbie, sounds intriguing. I would have to get a bigger smoker to cook that brisket.
