Default job posting in Canada???

Hello my name is mike, I am currently studying fish and wildlife studies at Sir Sandford Fleming college in Ontario and am also going to study natural resource law. My question to you is do you guys post for animal control jobs in Canada and if not do you know a website where they do?

Thank you for your time

Take Care,

Mike

Hi backdrifters - sure, when we know about ACO jobs in Canada, we post them. We just don't know of any right now.

thank you for your response... I will be checking in every so often just to see what pops up... Right now my plan is to be a conservation officer when i am done my studies which will be in four years but i do want to keep my options open because I do love animals especially dogs. I do plan on getting a Presa/Dogo canario this spring and doing SAR with him so i guess i want to do search and rescue eventually as well.... many ideas lol hopefully some of them work out Once again thanks for your response

Take Care,

Mike

Yeah, I and I spent some time looking, after backdrifters posted that - couldn't find a thing, and I'm usually really good at digging up info online.

A little bird told me that Ottawa ON might have a position coming up in the near future...(applicants must be bilingual though). I know I've been saying this for a while and I've been labelled as "all talk and no action" by coworkers but getting spit on last week was the last straw and I mean it this time lol. I will also keep my eyes open for other positions in Canada for you guys though.

Ahhh don't be sorry.... I'm going on 7 years now and I don't think I could do it for another 30...I'm going to stick around for now until I find something else but I'm definatly looking. My attitude is that I'd rather get out now if I know my heart isn't into it than become an old bitter ACO like I've seen many colleagues become. I'll always be into helping animals somehow but maybe on a voluntary basis where I can do it when I want to and take a break when I want to and still having my own full time job and source of income as well. We'll see though, it's not something that's going to happen tomorrow but hopefully soon. A good city job, unionized, full benefits and a great salary is hard to walk away from...it's all about weighing the pros and cons right now.

*cough cough* We're always looking for volunteers..... LOL - sorry, I couldn't resist

Well, it's good that you're looking then. While it always sucks to have a good ACO retire, it's better than (as you said) having them become bitter and (more) jaded.

ahh I knew only doing Gr 9 french would come back and bite me in the butt. So how is a good way to get my foot in the door? by volunteering or possibly working part time at a local shelter? and will my background (4 years from now lol) in Fish and Wildlife studies as well as Natural Resources help me?

ACO416iris sorry to hear about that Incident and hope all goes well for you in the future. Also where abouts are you in Ontario if you don't mind me asking?

Sunny where abouts are you in Ontario because I found a job in Kingston as an ANIMAL CONTROL & GENERAL BY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER dont know if thats what you are looking for but if you are it did close on oct. 28th but hey it never hurts to try

Take Care,

Mike
