Default My sergeant has no ac experience

I am having alot of hurdles! I have one more month of probation before I can be more vocal, more myself, around Sarge. He is running our shelter since our last one has been removed. He is stating that our city attny. is telling him to euth all pit bulls and not to adopt them out, even puppies good with other animals. All personal opinion aside I know that State code says that we cannot breeed descriminate! Dylan Rule exists for a reason. Apparently the c.a.'s daughter was bitten by one and she dislikes the breed altogether. Please let me know what I can do to save these puppies, animal friendly dogs. Thanks!

Start by contacting your local shelters and seeing what there policy is on pits and why. Also try contacting any pit rescue groups and see if they can help you with some information or taking of the dogs. (If they take the dogs make sure its a legit place) If that doesn’t work try going higher on the food chain.

I would start by talking to one of your more senior fellow officers about your concerns and see if they'd be willing to talk to the Sarge for you, without bringing your name into things. Since the AG's OPINION went out, lots of jurisdictions are fearful of the discrimination thing from locan humane groups. Good luck!

or "American Bulldog" mixes or "American Staffordshires" or (one our vet staff uses WAY too much for the brindles "Tennessee Terrier mixes"

Also, we flag certain breeds (pits being one) and those appliicants have to go through an addition step and be interviewed and approved by management before the dog can be adopted out. Sometimes just telling people that (and that they won't be taking Roscoe home today) weeds out some of the more questionable adopters. Perhaps suggesting something similar might make a difference. GOOD LUCK!
