I've seen that twice before now and still think that we need to find a way to have that aired on CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX at 8:00PM on a busy TV night all across the country. Maybe then some idiots will start to clue in.

Oh but it might offend someone if aired on national tv, it might scare little children...

That is the first time I have seen that and wow, that is really a great video. I wish I could make people watch it before they dump thier pets in our nightdrop. (one woman today as she was leaving said after she shoved her bewildered shep mix in one of out nightdrop boxes "goodbye so-and-so we love you". Just makes you want to shove them in one of the smallest kennels we have.

I think the most gut wrenching pic for me was the second to last one, the guy sitting on the floor.

Gonna pass this along to my Senior.

Wish i could show it to every person who abandons animals here at the state parks or off the side of highways. One day I WILL catch one of these people and have that video playing in the jail.

Default euth video

Oh my lord, that poor guy near the end has been me on days. I wish we could get this on the networks. Look at some of the violent, gory crap they put on t.v. as entertainment. This video is tame compared to some of that stuff.

Yeah...a person must be really cold if that video doesn't get to them. This is also on www.youtube.com. There are some great "must see" anti-cruelty videos on there as well.

Maybe the animal planet would be able to play it. Someone know how to get in contact with them ?

Default Scaring the kids - kids have wisdom

Hi All,

I didn't even TRY to watch it yet

Funny, we did a survey recently on attitudes here about humane ed. One school board candidate commented that she "would not be in favor of an education program that shocked children about animal cruelty issues." So you have to wonder why you would not want to do what you could so that there would not BE such shocking things to show kids, huh?

I think, kids are a lot smarter than adults, at first.

Carrie

I haven't tried watching it yet, either, Carrie. Not ready...

I agree with you that many kids are smart enough not to need scare tactics/shocking images to help them understand that this aspect of animal control happens every day and can be prevented. I think a lot of teenagers and little kids are extremely thoughtful and perceptive, and they wouldn't necessarily find the shock stuff instructive. But I do think that young people -- and all of society -- should know the reality of what goes on, and this can be taught effectively in a not-so-graphic way.

Still, what often moves people to action and to change the status quo is something strong and emotionally-affecting that just 'screams' injustice, like the video linked to above. I honestly believe PETA's success in getting so many members and contributor$ is that they know how to "work it", to show people the outrageousness of how animals are often treated in this world.

What scares me is that people get the wrong message and lable me the killer, and dont bring in strays because they dont want them euthanized. So they are dumped let to starve, be shot, run over by cars, and if very lucky picked up by me in the end. Some days seems like a lose lose situation.
