Excellent course. I attended and learned a lot. I have gone to Code 3/HSUS and NACA courses. All have been worth the time.

How in goodness name do I go about getting some certification and or official training? I would love to have some formal training course. There doesn't seem to be any answers when I ask the powers that be.

Hi carole - when you ask how, are you asking how to get your dept to pay for it, or how to find them in the first place?

I'm headed to code3 next week. I'll offer some feedback when I return.

Hi Carole, I'm looking at a course offered by the Thompson River University in Kamloops. Its an Animal Welfare course and you can take it by correspondance. I believe its also supported by the BCSPCA, if you've already taken it tell me what its like.
Any enforcement type courses would be offered by the Justice Institute of BC. They have Bylaw Enforcement courses and another one called Investigation and Enforcement certificate program offered through the police academy. The later offers a course on animal cruelty investigation.
Hope it helps

Hi everyone,
I have been to all three levels of the National Cruelty Investigation School (and then some) and I loved every minute of it. I recommend it to anyone who is thinking of entering this field or people who need an update on animal cruelty/welfare related issues!

I've done NACA I, II, and III (all of them), also Cruelty I and II, and Code 3's Equine Investigations I and II. All of them were wonderful and I highly recommend them.
