Question Animal License

Hello everyone,
I'm doing some research for my city on a better way to provide and keep track of city animals licenses. Right now we just have people come in and we right there info in a book, then we have to find it later. Do any of y'all use a computer system, or outside agency company to keep track of and distribute animal licenses? Any information you can provide would be very helpfull, thanks a bunch!!! pm me if you need my email for a long response

These folks do a great job. And you can look up your info on their system via the web.

www.petdata.com

After we went with them our license revenue went up, even though they get a slice of it, and, more important to me anyway, we actually had accuarte license info which is something the city just couldn't seem to do.

I enter mine on a excel spreadsheet. I little time consuming to enter, but the ease of data sorting makes it worthwhile. I enter license #, first name, last name, street #, street name, phone #, dog name, breed, color, sex, rabies tag #, rabies expiration date & vet. I have been able to identify some dogs by description and approx location by sorting the license data by whatever info I have. A real license program would be nice, but not in this budget.

The program we use is part of the towns vital records program. That way everything from dog licenses to death certificates are stored in the same manner and we don't have to learn multiple systems.

Chameleon. Simply, I can license search an entire block by hitting one button. Don't get the wrong idea, we dont do that with intention of knocking on doors, I just scroll down to find the address I am at. Click on it and it will show owner info, previous contacts and animal description.

We have Multiple Options which I wouldn't reccomend to anyone due to the cost factor. However we can do license search by name or address. What I do like about the system is that as soon as one is entered it goes to our online database and a person who finds a stray dog with county tags can get Owner information.

We also use Chameleon. I'm still too new to be very familiar with it but, we use it for everything from adoption/receiving, field operations, reports, etc.
