And then there are the important FEMA and NIMS courses available online, and I believe they are all free.

FEMA offers many classes on Animals in Disasters. (Think Hurricanes, wildfires, etc etc.)

And more and more offices are requiring all officers to take NIMS so that you can participate in any government run disaster site (or disaster of any government run response, take it how you like..)

They both are fairly easy and you print the certificates right off their site. Im telling you, it shows the boss initiative when you keep telling them you have more paper for them to put in your file. Do one a week, and you'll make yourself a more valuable employee. I know if I was a manager it would impress the heck out of me. (Oooh--shiny)
