I hear that. That's one of my pet peeves! It really ticks me off when you can find the address on the houses. And, what really scares me, is these huge apartment complexes. We have one in town that has enough buildings that they use all the letters of the alphabet (building A - Z). It's something else to find any particular address in there. I really feel sorry for the paramedics when they have to go in there because they're really racing against the clock to find the address.

I admit that Animal Control wasn't what I grew up wanting to do. I always wanted to be a vet. But, sometimes life throws you curve balls and you just can't do what you want so I became a hostess at a resturaunt, then went to college for a couple of years, then I tested cow milk, and then the animal control job kind of fell into my lap. I LOVE IT. I've been able to make some real good changes around here.

Default b-4 I became an ACO ?

I was in college and driving a delivery truck for a warehouse. The boss and I had a disagreement and that night I saw an ad for "humane Officer". Next day I called in sick, interviewed, got hired, left the warehouse and started the next day.
Back in then training was O.T.J. ( on the job ). This was in 1980.
By the way I had worked for the warehouse, since High School and quitting May Co. department stores. I've also played security and even played being a Police explorer prior to becoming an ACO or Humane Animal Law Enforcement Officer, - what evert he newest PC title is.

Everyone always be safe

telphone sales
janitor
security
delivery
drove a horse carrige
stable hand
dog bather

I never stayed in a job this long. It's certainly not the money. It's about truely making a diiference, one day,one animal and one person at a time.
