Well, now I can officially say I've seen everything ... I'm hoping it was a black chow whose fur was bleached, instead of a cream chow whose eyes were blacked ...

Anybody who tried to do that to Kira would be missing some once-beloved body parts . Now, Kandahar might put up with it, if you could get it done in a couple of minutes ... and if there was roasted chicken involved ...

This is my daughter's dog "Midnight" after a dip in our pond. I am pretty sure she is mixed with Labrador as much as she LOVES the water!!!

Whilst in search of some photos for use on this site in a different context, came across this one, which I hereby post in honor of chow lovers everywhere. Please note that, in support of my pro-chow theory, the actor involved is still able to make a living by his face, despite having had a chow in this close proximity.

Default Chows.......

I have no love for the breed myself, but I have to agree with an earlier post that they generally run away unless they are cornered. I have met some NASTY Chows in my career but I have met some VERY NICE Chows as well. My personal bite history involves a Shar Pei, a Rottweiler ( she was skin and bones with an embedded chain around her neck, the bite was not her fault it was her reaction to the pain when I was trying to remove the chain so I could take her from the yard she was chained in ), a Shepherd mix puppy from Mexico, a Chihuahua, and a feral cat. Now the meanest dogs I have had to face in my life were an AKC registered black Labrador, a few Pit Bulls, and a Saint Bernard ( that was a nightmare in itself ) all from different calls I responded to. As you can see Chow was not listed in my bite or my meanest dogs list. My dad had a beautiful Chow who was very nice to all except the mail coming thru the mail slot, lol. His name was Lucky and he was gorgeous, he was a chocolate colored dog but he had a silver sheen to his coat that sometimes made him look blue, I loved that dog he was awsome.

I don’t see anywhere near as many Chows as I used to, although I did see two today, but 15 years ago they were everywhere. Back then I would have 35 Chow bites for every Pit Bull bite (absolutely true, I added them up one day), but, very few of the bites were “attacks”. Most of them were when people tried to pet or handle the dog.

I had one incident where the dog attacked a small child who was standing in a parking lot while her mother unlocked the car, and the first Chow I ever had contact with went into the attack mode towards me when I was just sitting on a couch watching TV, but those are the exceptions.

I think many of us would agree that the worst dogs are the ones under 20 pounds with short hair.
