Job Details
Will enforce State laws and City of Plano ordinances regarding animal regulation, provide excellence in customer service to citizens and appropriate and humane care to Shelter animals; may be assigned to administration, field, or kennel operations; ability to deal effectively and professionally with the public in emotional situations; minimum of one (1) year or 32 semester hours of undergraduate college course work in English or Business Communication, or the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, zoology, animal science, etc., a minimum of one (1) year experience in care and handling of animals or other animal related experience, plus one year in computer data entry or related computer skills, and one year experience in extensive public contact with a customer service environment preferred. Experience may substitute on a per year basis for the education requirement. Texas Class C driver's license. Must obtain Texas Dept of Health Animal Control Officer Basic Certificate within one year of appointment to position, and Texas Dept of Health Euthanasia Technician Certificate within four months of appointment to position. HOURS: Split shift work, including holidays and weekends.

Job Details
Will maintain shelter areas (inside and outside) by cleaning and sanitizing animal kennels, removing litter and debris, washing feeding utensils, pans, and equipment, laundering towels, blankets, and beds, etc.; maintain stock and storage rooms in a neat and organized manner; stock inventory of food, litter, cleaning supplies, etc.; provide general care and feeding of animals; perform minor equipment/kennel repairs. May be required to assist office personnel with receiving animals, telephones, and citizens; input data into computer system for required animal tracking; may assist with animal euthanasia. Knowledge of domestic and wild animal handling techniques, as well as knowledge of animal behavior. Skill to work with minimal supervision and follow written and oral instructions. Minimum age 17. High school graduate (or GED) preferred. Texas Class C driverís license is required. HOURS: 30/week
