We're just days away from posting an ACO position in Knoxville, it will be open effective the 16th this month. Watch the News Sentinel for info or check the Knoxville City website. I can tell you that it will be a permanent 2nd shift assignment just so you know. We definitely could use someone with experience!

Hey, guys! Sorry for the delay, I just finished my on-call week and haven't had much time to spare. Check out the city site at www.cityofknoxville.org; the job should be posted this weekend. I think the starting pay is around $23,000 with a 1 yr probation. We're in the process of trying to justify a pay raise for all of us so maybe it'll go through this time. We have 6 trucks, the newest are 3 '04 Fords with SWAB boxes. Basic tools include ketch-pole, nets, gloves, etc. We have pepper spray and are trying to get bite sticks. All Officers are NACA certified as our boss believes in education! We work thorugh the PD so there is an extensive background check, fingerprinting, polygraph, etc.

Default NEWPORT TN ......

Rich

Were you just at the NACCA 2 Training in Nashville? For some reason I know your name...

OR were you at the ACAT conferance last October? ITs the same way here.... they are not serious about Animal Control and mainly politics all the time. I currently work P/T for 3 Police Depts seperatly. So its Looong hours with little pay. But I get the dogs adopted, and do education prorgamming too....

Default Nashville?

I'm afraid that wasn't me...It was our new "director"...someone's son-in-law w/zero qualifications and no experience at all!

See why I need to look elsewhere for openings?
I'm hoping to relocate soon...Help me w/Knoxville anybody?

Hey Rich! the job is posted now for our ACO in Knoxville. You can go online to www.cityofknoxville.org for info. I have heard that this will be a permanent 2nd shift position which means 1-9 and 3-11. You will get a 2nd shift premium. Also during your oncall week you are subject to be called in after hours to respond to emergencies and you work the weekends alone. We are trying to get another 2 officers approved so all this may well change if we do. Good luck!
