Default Northern VA ACO

Hi,
I am trying to find some info on becoming an ACO in this area, but can't seem to find any.I spent 9 years as a Special Police Officer, and have also done security work.I have spent the last 10 years running a pet-sitting business, and do know my way around animal restraint! I also did some time in a veterinary hospital, for restraint training.I already work weekends, nights etc, so that's no big change.I'm just ready for a career change, and this seems to be a possibility.I just wonder where the training is done, and where one finds out about job openings. Oh, and I've also had quite a bit of experience with exotics, such as snakes, and birds. thanks!

I think recently Gaithersburg, MD was hiring. You may want to contact them. Even if they have filled the spot, they may have a line on someone who's looking. Click on the 'jobs' link above and scroll down to MD. add. Contact info there.

I think Fairfax is on permanent hire... Just kidding. Each jurisdiction in the NOVA area is different in terms of training and certification requirements - i.e., we go through LE then AC training and are sworn, whereas, say, Falls Church or even Arlington, are not. So check the government pages for each jurisdiction - look for the job openings via Police Dept and/or SPCA/Shelter. It may take a little while, but you'll eventually find one.
