Super Talon Animal Catcher (Launching Net)

Do any of you have any information or recommendations for this item? We are considering. I know it's not something that would be used often in our area but when we need it, we wish we had it (I think).

How about a link to what you're looking at?

If its the one I think it is (the one that looks like a flashlight) we looked at it and the "powers-that-be" deemed it too expensive and that it would not be used often enough to justify it.

Save your money

Our agency has 2 net guns. They are cheap and really kinda dumb (not the idea ... just the product). The few times we used out in the field, we would literally be standing there and the net cartridges would just deploy without intention. They are 1 use only cartridges so you have to buy more after each shot (I believe they are somethin like 20$ per... dunno, thats not my thing)

Save the money in my opinion, but you won't know for sure unless yall try yourselves :)

Cool idea though.

I saw a net gun in a catalog once, it looked kinda like a hi-tech blunderbuss and was about 3 grand. Needless to say, we didn't buy one.

This info is from a mailer we recently received from Advanced Weapons Technology, Inc., 48290 Vista Calico, Suite #B, La Quinta, CA 92253. (760-777-7229). "Super New Talon Animal Catcher" "Up to 50 ft range" www.humanecapture.com advancedweapons@msn.com.

I've looked into it and it IS to expensive for the amount of times you might need it.

TollandAC 09-14-2010 02:28 PM

Thanks, ya I talked my partners ou tof it and my supervisor agrees it is not worth it for the amount of times we would use it. It was about $1,600 when I requested info from the company.

I found the one I was talking about, at wildlifecapture.com, click on the header that says net-gun. Even more expensive than the Super Talon.

The dog in the video was well trained. What happens if you net a dog and it decides to gator/chow roll? How do you get the dog out of the net? I suspect you would need to just cut the dog out which would result in you having to buy nets every time.

Cheers, Scooterchic::scooter::

From what i gather you have to buy new cartriges anyhow. So cutting the net doesn't matter.
