The City of Norfolk Animal Protection Unit in conjunction with the Virginia Animal Control Association are in the process of finalizing a Travelling Exhibit Inspection Class. This has been confirmed and is now scheduled for Friday February 24, 2006. This course is held to coincide with Feld Entertainment's production of the Ringling Brothers Circus in order to allow Animal Control Officers the opportunity to examine exotic animals in an actual travelling exhibit.

Topics include
ACO Education program offered by Feld Inc.
Inspections of T.E.s, Roadside Zoos and other non-standard animal displays.
Zoonotic Disease
Public Interaction Issues
Practical Application at Performance

The class is tentatively set to run from 1130am - 930pm with a portion of the instruction taking place during an actual performance. There is a two hour dinner break (on your own)
This will be submitted to the State Veterinarian for up to 7.5 hours of CEUs for ACOs and HIs in VA.

THERE IS NO COST TO ATTEND! Lunch will be provided by Feld Entertainment. Officers will be also able to attend the performance that evening at no charge. Sorry, no guests, this is a training class.


Another shorter version of this seminar may be offered in the Northern Virginia area later this spring to coincide with another venue show.
