If you own an animal in Chatham County - new animal control laws could soon affect you.
County commissioners are now talking about the new laws.
They decided to create the new animal control ordinance after a West Chatham County homeowner was found with more than 100 pit bulls on his property.
The man was convicted of animal cruelty.
Seven of the pit bulls had to be put to sleep because they were in such poor health.
Friday commissioners looked at a draft of the proposed ordinance.
The proposed ordinance includes provisions on dog fighting, animal neglect, and how many pets people can have and much more.
If you'd like to let the county attorney know what you believe should or shouldn't be included in the ordinance you email him at jwrobert@chathamcounty.org.
