Hey there everyone,
I'm a new ACO (since June) and I'm loving my job. Everyday something new happens. It's not all glory and good times but it's a perfect fit for me. My background is in Immigration Enforcement and Contract Administration for the Federal Government but I always felt something was missing. The pay was good, but I never looked forward to going to work. Sure, I had pets at home...a dog, a cat and 5 parrots but I found myself feeling boxed in by my cubicle and I knew in my heart I was meant to work with animals. I volunteered for many years at the SPCA hospital so when a friend showed me a job opportunity for a kennel attendant at our local no-kill animal shelter I decided to apply. I went to 2 interviews and was offered an ACO position instead of the kennels. So here I am, and I've never been happier in a job, no wait... now it's a career : )
I expect I'll learn some tips and tools of the trade here so I look forward to "meeting" everyone. If anyone has questions about the laws in BC I'm happy to reply.
